John William Nelson

Attorney & Counselor at Law

I take my role as a counselor and an attorney seriously.  I work to solve my clients’ problems.  I focus on business law, estate planning, and debtor rights.

I spent more than a year working with the Newton County Attorney’s office working on complex local government law issues.

I left that job to become General Counsel for a small business.  I recently stepped down from this business so I can grow my private practice and serve my community more fully.

I graduated from Cumberland School of Law in 2008.  I was a member of Cumberland’s award winning 2008 Moot Court Team.  I participated in mock trial courses and advanced legal drafting courses.  I wrote and edited for the American Journal of Trial Advocacy.

I lived a year in Norwich, England, obtaining an LL.M. with Distinction in International Information Technology & Intellectual Property Law from the University of East Anglia in 2010.  While over there I lectured to English law students on the American legal system.

Other Stuff

In my spare time I write law journal articles and write for a Law & Technology blog called Lex Technologiae, latin for the law of technology.
